The Blog Is Prettier But the Weather Still Sux

As you can see, I have adopted a new design template for the blog. I figure it's the only way I'm going to get to see a blue sky before the middle of June or thereabouts.

Starting on March 10, Bend has experienced 39 days of almost continuous suck. Specifically, we have seen only 11 sunny or partly sunny days during that whole period, with clouds and/or rain and/or snow and/or wind on most of the other 28 and temperatures generally reaching only the 40s to mid-50s.

Temperature-wise, March yielded only three "tolerable" days (high of 60 or above) and all of those came in the first 10 days of the month -- lending credence to the old Bend proverb: "March comes in like a lamb and goes out like a Tyrannosaurus Rex."

March Totals:
Comfortable Days: 0
Tolerable Days: 3
Cold Days: 28

YTD Totals:
Comfortable Days: 98
Tolerable Days: 63
Cold Days: 174

Often while perusing OR real estate listings you'll notice even dumpy homes are shot in brilliant sunlit ways. My guess is that anyone contemplating selling ( and who isn't ) has a digital camera at the ready in the offhand chance the Sun ( orange spherical object ) breaks through?

The snapshots always look hurriedly snuck in before the next WAVE of Drear rolls through. If realtors can "paint the tape" ( why not Bruce? )

Your suffering from old-fashionitis. Most new cameras, have aps that can make the dreariest overcast day look like Sunshine in Phoenix. No need to wait for the real thing.

HBM: You are absolutely right! The blog is prettier!

I did a brief -- very brief -- stint shooting promotional pics for realtors. Pretty damn boring work for not a lot of money. Like food photography, there is only one "look" desired. For RE it ain't overcast.

Some are more bothered by gray overcast than others. "Bend material" folk are those who don't find a gray April discouraging. Fortunately I am one of those. I empathize with those who are not -- Mrs Elliott is among you.

Me, I'm simple: I know that such things will pass.

Carl,

Probably right. Digital is fine for most applications and I've even heard of sellers gussying up w/ not so careful photoshopping to make the lawn greener, sky bluer etc.

Perhaps we've stumbled on to what has enabled Bend cheerleaders to make alot of those erroneous claims? Funny, as a kid growing up in Chicago the key to amateur photography was blocking OUT the sun or making sure it didn't wash your subject out completely?

Very obviously, seldom is that an issue here.
