"Chimpanzees never shelter from the rain; they just sit in the open and look miserable, occasionally shaking themselves to throw off the raindrops clinging to their coats." Source: http://chimpanzeesite.webs.com/everydaylife.htm
Q: What's the difference between chimpanzees and Oregonians?
A: Oregonians sit out in the rain grinning, and they don't bother to shake.

To be fair, Oregonians won't throw poop at you either.
That's true, as a rule.
Oh, I don't know about Oregonians not throwing poop at you. You need to spend more time in the Eastern Third.
An appraisal I DO not share. If you want poo flung at you, then Portland's your place! They park their car ( and then pretend they don't OWN one! ) Pedestrians abuse the ROW at every turn, cyclists do as they please and they're very open minded about all kinds of viewpoints ( as long as yours is i-d-e-n-t-i-c-a-l to their's? )
An armed society is a polite society and you're bound to be treated w/ more respect -outside- the Portland Metro than IN.
Now we enter the nerve racking part of the year where ANY check of the 10-Day Forecast can potentially signal TEOS. The End Of Summer. Yes, when you see that 'odd' first day dropping to the mid-60's, overcast w/ rain, barring a MIRACLE It.Is.Over.
"An armed society is a polite society" I don't want to get into a political argument because this is not a political blog -- but how does that statement square with the fact that violent crime and homicide rates are so much higher in states with high gun ownership rates?
Bruce,
Not my best choice, just trying to avert blog post run-on. In general, rural OR's are more about property rights, privacy and respecting each other's space. They don't want to tell YOU what to do w/ your property and they damn sure don't want to be TOLD what to do w/ their's?
That aside, what's the call on TEOS? FA showed we should have been doing a LOT better YTD than we actually 'have'. I'm now a fullblown Summer 2012 skeptic.
